  Displaying Art Work

Since I am not a graphic artist, I thought it would be a good idea to get some real art work, so that I could discuss the best way of displaying it.

So I asked one of the students in my computer classes if he would like to contribute some illustrations of his work, so that I could have something original to show you.  And here it is:

Art work by Pierre Lai, 96 Grad of Dawson College Illustration & Design, Montreal Telephone (514) 672-8633, Cellular (514) 234-4809

Drawing "SEMIREAL", Semi-realistic illustration (205K bytes) "Gundam 1", Air Brush & Color Pencil    (109K bytes) "Music", Magazine Cover with Pencil Crayons (Ref: 1911 Etude Music Magazine)
"Eagle", Rendering by Color Pencil "Food", Rendering by Color Pencil "Heart 2", Medical Illustration with Color Pencil

You can click on the first two images to see a larger versions of these images.

The best way to display art work on the Web is to display a miniature of the picture, and then, if the user wants to see the picture in more detail, he can click on the miniature image to display a larger version of the picture.  That way, the user can check out the preview before he decides whether he wants to wait a longer time to download the larger image.

It also helps if you put the file size information by each image to be downloaded so that the user can anticipate how long the download will take.

These images were scanned in to the computer using a Logitech Scanman Color hand-held scanner, and resized using Paint Shop Pro.
